“Killer Joules”: spores of Bipolaris sorokiniana and fusarium species are susceptible to microwave radiation

چکیده

Abstract Cereal production in Australia is severely impacted by diseases such as Fusarium crown rot (caused predominantly pseudograminearum ) and common root Bipolaris sorokiniana ). These are particularly difficult to manage because inoculum can survive at least three years within cereal stubble, or four soil the case of B. . Microwave radiation may be able reduce eliminate stubble soil. Several pathogens have been previously shown susceptible microwave radiation, but energy requirements achieve a significant decrease pathogen populations were not defined. Laboratory based dose-response experiments on conidia macroconidia F. cerealis revealed that all with lethal dose (LD) thresholds estimated for each pathogen. required 103.8 Jg − 1 236.6 LD50 LD99, respectively, whilst 78.4 300.8 95.3 152.7 respectively. results derived from whereby samples microwaved up 10 s using domestic 1100 W oven. timing serve starting point define further development treatments under field conditions.

REACTION OF BARLEY GENOTYPES TO Bipolaris sorokiniana

A study on response of 29 barley genotypes resistant to Bipolaris leaf blight (Bipolaris sorokiniana) was conducted to investigate the relationship of the components of resistance of 29 barley genotypes. Data on five components of resistance viz., infection frequency (number of lesions per plant), lesion size (mm), percent leaf area affected by lesion, percent necrotic area on leaf, and disease...

The use of RAPD to characterize Bipolaris sorokiniana isolates.

Bipolaris sorokiniana is a phytopathogenic fungus causing diseases of cereal crops such as common root rot, the leaf spot disease, seedling blight, and black point of the grain. Random-amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) assay was used to investigate the genetic diversity of 20 isolates collected from different cultivars in wheat-producing regions in Brazil. Seventy primers, with random nucleotide...

Phytotoxic sesterterpene, 11-epiterpestacin, from Bipolaris sorokiniana NSDR-011.

The structure of siccanol, a phytotoxic sesterterpene of fungal origin, was analyzed after chemical conversion by NMR spectroscopy. Siccanol was found to be an epimer of terpestacin that has been isolated from Arthrinium sp., and was thus renamed 11-epiterpestacin. Its stereochemistry was also identical with that of fusaproliferin, a structurally related mycotoxin from Fusarium proliferatum. Th...
